Dear Patrons, Volunteers, and Supporters,
As we continue to manage our lives during this pandemic, discussions of when and how it would be safe for businesses to reopen are a constant. Theatres are no exception but are certainly full of just as much complexity and consideration as many other businesses. The issues of public health, maintaining social distancing (for both patrons and volunteers/actors), disinfecting and cleaning, and overall costs have been weighing heavily on many a theatre board.
At this time, the Mantorville Theatre Company has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining melodrama season. This will be the first time in decades MTC has not run melodramas in the summer, and we are deeply saddened by this turn of events.
Furthermore, the October production of Lizzie: the Musical has also been postponed to October 2021.
As always, we will send out further notifications and updates as they happen. Our first concern is always to the safety of our community, our patrons and our amazing volunteers. We will reopen someday, and we will be doing so as safely as we can. And, of course, we look forward to seeing you all in person again in the future.
Our physical doors may be closed and our stage empty, but our desire to bring you entertainment has not been diminished or subdued. For your viewing pleasure, our first melodrama “A Curse Comes Home or Professor Pembroke’s Predicament” by Greg Miller, has been turned into a virtual performance by a collection of willing volunteers. Follow the link to give it a watch! And if you like what you see, please click the donation link in the description to donate to MTC and support future productions, both live and virtual! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lteu79e4UEA&list=LLTPBgSjDlGIT2hWm1-k_ntQ&index=2&t=1634s
Please stay safe and healthy!
